Help us make a difference in developing countries by donating your old shoes in the month of August. Waterstep, a nonprofit organization, helps bring safe water to communities in over 33 countries by training them to use water purification, health education, and water well repair. Waterstep sells donated shoes to vendors who repair and sell the shoes in the same countries, serving several purposes. The shoes help build the economy of local communities, provide affordable footwear, keep shoes out of landfills, and initiate sustainable water projects.
Save the Date! Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 will be our annual Congregational Retreat and Children's Program at Chenoweth Trails. The theme of this year's retreat focuses on healing in our lives, whether emotional or spiritual. In order to be at a place in life to help others and be used by God, mending needs to take place within us. Certainly healing requires God's assistance, but we must make the choice to heal as well. How we do that and what needs to take place in our lives for that to happen will be part of this practical weekend of learning and sharing. Also during this weekend, an exciting children's program will take place that will include games, bible lessons, music, crafts, and recreation. While parents are learning and growing, so will the kids! The cost is $10 per adult or $15 per couple (includes meals). Children under the age of 18 are free. Free time activities include hiking, fishing, corn hole, board games, cards, volleyball, kickball, frisbee, relaxing with nature, and swimming. Registration is due by Monday, August 28. Registration forms are available in the church narthex.
