The world is full of good books, music, art and films. We all enjoy taking time to relax and enjoy these wonderful and creative expressions of God’s good gifts of beauty and excellence . As a Pastor I wanted to share with you some of the things that I have found to be helpful in my own growth in Christ, as well as those pieces that are currently feeding me. I hope these items will be enjoyable and uplifting to you if you so choose to investigate them further.

We all recognize that a very large amount of personal preference goes into the kinds of books, music and movies we like to watch. There are also a variety of thresholds of acceptability regarding what we find depicted in certain scenes, lyrics, or prose. Art comes from people and people can produce or comment on subject matter that the church as a whole observes as “sinful”. Yet in the Bible also we are told of murders, adulterous relationships, lying, stealing, and more. These stories we trust God includes in order to instruct us about Himself and ourselves.

Thus, the purpose of this page is to make a broad range of suggested readings, music, prose, and film in order that we might be lifted up, challenged and encouraged. These things are not on par with God’s Word. They are the expressions of people made in God’s image, from one person to another.

I hope you will find these suggestions helpful and beautiful in their own right. My preferences will not always be yours but it is nice to pass along some of these things that God has used in my life to you all.
